this new collective which calls for a strike during the Paris Olympics

At the SNCF, one strike can hide another. Despite a strong social dialogue, and despite an agreement on the end of careers signed by the four unions representing the company, supposed to eradicate the discontent, a new source of conflict is being stirred up by a hitherto unknown and animated collective by FO Cheminots activists (an organization not representative of the SNCF). The latter, endowed with real digital inventiveness, took advantage of the proximity of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, a context conducive to demands.

On May 22, a “convergence meeting” is planned at SNCF to complete the negotiation around bonuses linked to the Olympic and Paralympic Games (JOP). Usually, Ile-de-France Mobilités, the transport authority in the region, orders fewer trains in summer. “This relieves pressure on the device”, recalled Jean-Pierre Farandou, CEO of SNCF, interviewed by the Senate Sustainable Development Commission. This summer, due to the JOP, railway workers were asked to postpone their vacations.

A working group has been working since November on the organization and compensation for agents, particularly on childcare. Compensation of 50 euros per day has already been proposed. Questions remain to be resolved regarding the scope of compensated agents.

” We will find a solution “

Discussions are progressing well according to the CEO. So why is Sud-Rail calling for a strike on Tuesday May 21 in Ile-de-France? Fabien Villedieu, Sud-Rail delegate, tries to minimize the movement: “It’s not a long weekend or a day off on vacation,” he notes, in an allusion to the bill from senators LR or centrist deputy Hervé Marseille to regulate the right to strike in transport. Which doesn’t answer the question.

According to our information, Sud-Rail is launching the movement to avoid being overwhelmed by a new collective, which appeared after that of controllers, bringing together drivers in Ile-de-France. At the initiative of a group of FO Cheminots activists from the north of Paris, this collective has the slogan “declare yourself a striker from July 26”. Their site prometdegreve.com keeps a count of people who threaten to stop work during the JOP.

On France Interon May 4, Fabien Villedieu assured that he wanted “negotiate in May so as not to have to negotiate in July”. Asked about the risk of a possible strike during the Olympics, he replied confidently: ” We will find a solution. »
