Coats are among the absolute keypieces of every autumn look in 2020. So don't think too long and rely on at least one of these three new favorite pieces.
Like it or not, the days when we can leave the house without a jacket or coat are numbered. Autumn is just around the corner and with it lots of new trends that will make us forget summer very quickly. So it is high time to prepare our wardrobe for the next season and, especially when it comes to coats, take a look at the runways of our favorite designers. We'll tell you which outerwear is very popular with us in 2020.
Wool coat
Our grandmothers loved them, our mothers too, and we loved them anyway – in 2020 even more than ever. We're talking about classic wool coats that have made it back to the world's most important catwalks this season. But of course not without first getting a fashion update. Instead of perfectly cut to the waist, with elegant lapels and gold-colored buttons, this autumn and winter we are going for buttonless oversize models with XXL collars and waist bands. Anyone who still reaches for a part in maxi-length and with extra-wide sleeves is the next level of fashion. By the way: In terms of color, we are based entirely on earthy autumn tones: Chocolate brown, khaki or camel are now trumps in the cold season!
Quilted coat
By last year at the latest, we should all have a down jacket hanging in the closet, in 2020 our winter favorite will be extended – and that literally as well as proverbial. The quilted nylon parts keep us warm in the cold season, but they now gain a few centimeters. In short: from the jacket to the coat and thus to an even more casual look. Those who are particularly brave when it comes to fashion can choose colorful coats in bright signal colors – with or without a pattern – instead of plain-colored models in plain black or navy. Very important, however: The outfit underneath is discreetly restrained and leaves the quilted coat to make the big fashion appearance. But you don't have to sort out the down jackets from last year directly. Lined vests will join them and the new coats in 2020 – so from now on we are not only weatherproof, but above all trendy.
Leather coat
We all love it and have one in our closet: a leather jacket! In 2020 the fashion classic will face serious competition from within its own ranks. Because leather or imitation leather no longer just misses a cool update on our look in the form of casual biker cuts – as a coat it is the new main actor on the fashion stage. It becomes particularly trendy when we use trench coats or slightly tailored cuts with elegant lapels in dark green, navy or chocolate brown. Also very important: the material should be of high quality and not shine too much.
