The reboot of the cult series “Code Quantum” is starting to take shape. Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters”) and Raymond Lee (“Prodigal Son”) have been chosen to play the two main characters of the future pilot.
The details of the reboot of Code Quantum are gradually beginning to become clearer. According to information from DeadlineNBC has just announced that Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) and Raymond Lee (Prodigal Son) will star in the pilot, written by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, who both worked on La Brea, Gotham and Hawaii Five-0 , and directed by Helen Shaver (Vikings).
The series will pick up 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) entered the Time Accelerator and disappeared. A new team has been formed to relaunch the project and thus understand the mysteries surrounding the machine and the man who created it.
Raymond Lee will play for the occasion Dr. Ben Seong, spiritual successor to Sam Beckett. His character, a world famous physicist working on a time travel project known as Quantum Leap, will find himself stuck in the 1980s with no memories after using the machine.
Ernie Hudson, the iconic Winston Zeddemore in Ghostbusters, will lend his features to Herbert “Magic” Williams, a Vietnam veteran who finds himself at the head of the Quantum Leap project. Thanks to his talent in politics, and his military know-how which allows him to keep the Pentagon at bay, he manages to gain time in order to save Ben.
Airing between 1989 and 1993, Quantum Code followed a physicist who found himself stuck in the past under another identity. With each episode, he changed bodies in order to correct something that had gone wrong in the past. Sam was accompanied on his time travel by Al, a holographic companion played by Dean Stockwell, who sadly passed away last November.
For the moment, Scott Bakula, who camped for 5 seasons Dr. Sam Beckett in Code Quantum has not yet been announced to the casting of the reboot, his involvement in the project being still “to be determined” according to TV Line.
