Combat pests: Experts recommend these remedies

Sprays and concentrates against aphids, whiteflies, fungus gnats, vine weevils and the like should really be the last resort. The toxic agents not only harm the plague, but also all kinds of farm animals such as bees, bumblebees and butterflies. However, if you cannot do without chemical pest control, you should definitely dose and use it exactly according to the instructions. The majority of the remedies score “good”, but two are “very good”:

  • Compo Bio Insect Repellent PREV-AM Orange Oil, for around 10 euros (view on Amazon)
  • Subsrtral Naturen Organic Pest Free Fruits & Vegetables, for around 10 euros (view on Amazon)

These agents are only limited or not at all harmful to beneficial organisms and use biological active ingredients such as orange and rapeseed oil. They can only be used against sucking pests.

Four agents, on the other hand, are real chemical clubs: The products Compo Bi 58 Spray, Protect Garden Delta X pest-free AF, Substral Celaflor pest-free Careo concentrate for vegetables and Substral Celaflor pest-free Careo rose spray are highly toxic and can also harm people. You should avoid these products. They fail the test with the grade “poor”.
