PARIS, January 10 (Reuters) – La République en Marche deputy for Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Stéphane Claireaux, announced on Monday that he would file a complaint after being assaulted in front of his home on the sidelines of a demonstration against the health pass Sunday.
“I’m going to file a complaint, it’s obvious,” he said on Franceinfo. “Some may think that we are not making the right decisions. We all receive death threats by email, at some point it has to stop.”
The MP explained that he was waiting for protesters outside his home when he received jets. One of the protesters tried to tear off his mask, he added.
“There was a car loaded with seaweed, seaweed, and people started throwing me at me. It looked like stoning,” he told franceinfo.
On Twitter, the Minister of the Sea, Annick Girardin, denounced an aggression “absolutely unacceptable” and said to have contacted the prefect “so that the republican order is maintained”.
On Saturday, demonstrations against the vaccine pass – which should replace the health pass – brought together 105,200 people across the country, including 18,000 in Paris. (Report Blandine Hénault, edited by Nicolas Delaeme)
