For the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Nvidia has chosen not to offer a reference card, called Founders Edition. This GPU had a rather rocky launch, as Nvidia originally planned to release two versions of the RTX 4080: one with 16GB of VRAM and a reference design; another with 12 GB of VRAM and the choice of the cooling system left to Nvidia’s partners. Faced with the controversy caused by this discounted version of the RTX 4080, Nvidia finally decided to rename it RTX 4070 Ti.

As a result, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti sold by partners often have quite large dimensions, as evidenced by the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming OC in our test. It is therefore rare to find this GPU occupying less than 2.5 slots, which complicates its integration into small format boxes, such as the micro ATX.

Aware of the problem, MSI has adapted its Tri Frozr cooling system to not exceed two occupancy slots. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Slim 12G is therefore currently the only RTX 4070 Ti that allows an expansion card to be installed in the PCI slot directly below it, taking place in the most cramped configurations.
The MSI Gaming X Slim should arrive in France in the coming months. Its price is not yet known.
