On its stand at Computex 2023, Asus is exhibiting the ROG PG27AQN, its 27-inch 360 Hz monitor available since October 2022, which benefits from the ULMB 2.0 (Ultra Low Motion Blur) update. This new version now inherits Nvidia certification and ULMB 2.0 monitors must meet certain criteria such as a minimum brightness of 250 cd/m², operation at the maximum native frequency of the panel and a sharpness improvement engine operating at more than 100 Hz. This last criterion is quite blurry, but the sharpness of objects has been improved, which is clearly visible. Instructors will still be able to use the term ULMB, which is not subject to particular quality criteria or to any certification.
With this version 2.0 of the ULMB, the Asus PG27AQN monitor goes from a brightness of around 130 cd/m² to 250 cd/m² while still improving the sharpness of moving objects. Remember that the ULMB consists of inserting a black image between each image in order to deceive retinal persistence. The latter is responsible for the blur effect observed behind moving objects that can even be noted on the most reactive screens on the market, in particular on OLED models whose response time is however almost nil (0.03 ms). The human eye creates a blur between two images, the insertion of a black image to avoid this phenomenon.

With a price above 1000 €, the Asus Rog PG27AQN is still reserved for competitive FPS enthusiasts and cyberathletes who will be able to exploit the capabilities of such a screen.
