Consumption E.coli bacteria: recent contaminations are linked to Buitoni pizzas


The frozen pizza brand Buitoni (Nestlé) announced in mid-May the immediate recall of the entire Fraîch’up range, made up of 16 references, due to the potential presence of Escherichia coli bacteria in the dough of a product. . Health authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the resurgence of E. coli cases in French children was indeed linked to these pizzas.

Analyzes “have confirmed a link between several cases and the consumption of frozen pizzas from the Fraîch’Up range of the Buitoni brand contaminated with Escherichia coli bacteria”, announced the General Directorate of Health, which depends on the government. It recalled the need to destroy the products concerned.

“Today we do not understand what could have happened”, declared this Wednesday Jérôme Jaton, the industrial general manager of Nestlé France, during a press conference. “The only range involved is that of our Fraîch’up products”, he recalled, specifying that the production lines were stopped “in order to facilitate the investigation”.
