Continue Trump’s heart project
Texas builds its own border wall with Mexico
Donald Trump promises a “beautiful wall” to Mexico before he becomes US President. His successor Joe Biden stopped the project immediately. That doesn’t please the Texas Governor Greg Abbott. He now wants to erect his own barriers.
Texas has started building its own “wall” made of huge steel bars on the border with Mexico. “Texas is taking an unprecedented step for a state to protect the sovereignty of the United States and our state,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott at a press conference. Such a wall is necessary because the government of US President Joe Biden “has not done its job,” he said from Rio Grande City in front of a crane and steel bars.
The governor, who is said to have ambitions for the White House himself, denounced the “deadly consequences” of Biden’s border policy. “This border wall that you see behind us is a replica of the border wall that President Trump built – same material, same concept,” he added, referring to Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump.
Before he was elected President in 2016, Trump had promised to build a “beautiful wall” on the 3,200-kilometer southern border to keep undocumented immigrants and criminals away. The future US president had polarized with insulting and racist remarks about Mexican and Central American immigrants. The wall became one of the most important projects of his tenure. More than 700 kilometers of the border were secured, with its “wall” being used primarily to replace existing barriers.
When Biden took office in January of this year, the work was stopped. The democratic president has been criticized from many quarters for his handling of illegal immigration: some still find his policies too tough, others call for even tougher measures.
