Cordoba: Pair loses from the start

Eliminated in January by Stéfanos Tsitsipas in the third round of the Australian Open, Benoit Paire will have shone less on the clay courts of Cordoba, in central-northern Argentina. Indeed, Jaume Munar won against the French on the night of Monday to Tuesday (6-4, 7-5), in the first round of the Cordoba tournament. Benoit Paire, 32 years old and 54th player in the world, will not have been able to resist the assaults of the young Spaniard, 24 years old and 88th in the ATP ranking. In the other matches of the night, Juan Londero won ahead of Yannick Hanfmann and thus became the first Argentinian to qualify for the rest of the tournament. His compatriot Facundo Bagnis lost to Peruvian qualifier Juan Pablo Varillas. Pushed to the tie-break in the third set, Pedro Martinez came out in extremis against Thiago Monteiro.
