Corona break ended: Blablacar has resumed bus travel

The red buses are on their way again. Blablacar is now offering trips across Germany. The bus company plans to operate some routes particularly often.

The mobility platform Blablacar has resumed its long-distance bus trips. After a half-year Corona break, the first coaches started in the morning from Berlin, among others.

Co-founder Nicolas Brusson said that the company has expanded its range, especially on the heavily frequented routes. Between Berlin and Hamburg, for example, 134 journeys per week will be offered from now on instead of the 70 up to the break. Between Berlin and Munich, the number of weekly journeys will more than double from 30 to 75. In addition, additional night lines between Frankfurt and Hamburg have been added.

Blablacar belongs to the French company Comuto, which is best known in Germany for its ride-sharing app. Customers can use the platform to join forces for car ridesharing. Around two years ago, Blablacar also entered the German long-distance bus market under the Blablabus brand, which is still dominated by the Flixbus company. With the restart, Blablabus disappears as a separate brand name. From now on, all services will operate under the name Blablacar and will be more closely linked.
