Finally stay home! We shouldn't go outside the door anymore – for fear of an invisible enemy who doesn't seem to be any more dangerous than a normal flu.
The danger that comes from the corona virus is difficult for many to understand. The blatant measures taken by politics have all the more disproportionate effect on them. Cinemas closed, restaurants closed from 6 p.m., only go out for good reason – it all feels very uncomfortable. And now there are rumors that there may be a conspiracy.
What is the conspiracy behind the corona virus?
In which – a Conspiracy? Rather, there are dozens of theories and ideas that make the round. So what could be behind the virus? We have heard the following conspiracy theories:
- "The elderly should die on purpose so that the pension system works again"
- "All just a trick to get rid of the cash!" (because more and more supermarkets are asking for contactless card payments)
- "The scaremongering around the virus is intended to mask the fact that the GEZ is increased!"
As you can see – there are a lot of supposed "real reasons" for the virus, and most of them are at first glance recognizable as absurd. But apparently there are really people who believe that more than 7000 people worldwide had to die from a virus so that we in Germany would not notice that it was decided that the broadcasting fee would increase by 86 cents per month (!) From 2021…
Conspiracies all over the world
Conspiracy theories, which are divided into Whatsapp groups or at the kitchen table, are not a German phenomenon. So the most spectacular theories are circulating in other affected countries, too, what can be suspected behind the outbreak of the virus. An American-Jewish world conspiracy to decimate the population is circulating, as is the idea that the virus is a bio-weapon that was created on purpose (this theory exists several times, with different "villains" who are said to have made the "weapon").
And what is behind it now?
Just by how much the different theories contradict each other, we can see that not all of them can be true. However, conspiracy theories also have in themselves that they cannot be refuted – they live on the fact that there is no evidence for or against it.
However, we can assume that there is nothing more behind the corona virus than a virus that rapidly transmits a disease against which there is still no antidote and from which a comparatively large number of people die. It may be hard to imagine that something as simple can have as far-reaching consequences as we are currently experiencing – but we have to learn that.
How should I react?
If someone "initiates" you and wants to explain to you what is supposedly behind the "whole scaremongering" and the alleged hype, remain skeptical. Think about what you really know and what is important now.
And it is important that we curb and slow down the spread of this virus (by the way, it would not matter whether it is "just" a disease or a "biological weapon" – we have to face the danger). Therefore, the following still applies: Follow the recommendation to stay at home as much as possible and to have as little contact with others as possible – and of course the hygiene rules still apply.
And the most important rule: don't let yourself go crazy! If we are sensible together, we will get through this crisis together!
