The health department has reported a corona outbreak in the Heidenheim district. Three daycare centers and one school are said to be affected. 185 people are in quarantine.

While some federal states are only just beginning cautiously to open schools and daycare centers, others are already having to go back into quarantine. In the district of Heidenheim in Baden-Württemberg there is now said to have been a major corona outbreak, as the Heidenheimer Zeitung reports.

People are said to have been infected with the corona virus at four community facilities in the district. A total of three daycare centers and one school are affected. In addition, there is said to have been an outbreak in a doctor's practice in Heidenheim.

British virus mutation in corona outbreak in daycare

185 people, including adults and children, are now said to be in quarantine. After a proven corona infection, 41 children and five educators are in quarantine in a kindergarten. In another, 50 contacts from an infected child are called upon to be tested for the coronavirus.

The corona outbreak in the Christ Kindergarten in Heidenheim is particularly worrying. The British mutation of the virus was detected here, so that the isolation of the contact persons had to be expanded again. The mutant B.1.1.7 is considered to be significantly more contagious. The health department then issued a 14-day quarantine for the members of the household of contact persons – a total of 128 people in the case of this one daycare center.

In addition, nine students and two teachers are currently in quarantine at a primary school.

The far-reaching isolation of sources of infection is intended to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus and interrupt chains of infection. Today, Thursday, the Robert Koch Institute reported more than 14,000 new infections within 24 hours for Germany. In the course of this, RKI boss Wieler warned that the third wave had already started.
