After a corona outbreak at dm, 800 employees were quarantined. Several infected people were reported in a distribution center in the Euskirchen district.

Germany is fighting the third wave of the corona pandemic. While the number of infections is rising again nationwide, larger corona outbreaks are again being reported in companies. Now the drugstore chain “dm” has quarantined around 800 employees.

94 people infected with corona, 800 in quarantine

In a dm distribution center in Weilerswist, in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia, a total of 94 corona cases were reported. After several tests in the plant were positive, 200 employees initially had to go into quarantine. After a reassessment of the situation, according to the “Kölner Stadtanzeiger”, 600 more were added because there were infection clusters around the 94 infected people.

After the first positive corona cases, the health department of the Euskirchen district is said to have arranged a series of tests in the distribution center. As a result, more infected people were discovered among the employees, as dm managing director Christian Bodi reported according to the General-Anzeiger.

Now the drugstore chain should follow all appropriate security measures to interrupt the chain of infection. At the same time, however, the managing director also assured that there should not be any supply bottlenecks. The dm stores will continue to receive regular supplies.

The corona outbreak shows how quickly the virus can spread in the workplace. Since you can be contagious before you develop symptoms, people can unconsciously pass the coronavirus on. For this reason, among other things, rapid tests are also planned in companies in the future. Chancellor Angela Merkel called on employers to offer employees regular corona tests so that safe working conditions can be created. As before, employees who are allowed to do so are called upon to work in the home office.
