Corona – Great Britain: Different vaccine for younger Britons

According to the latest figures, 49 people in the UK had died by the end of April as a result of rare blood clots associated with low platelet counts following an Astrazeneca vaccination. In total, symptoms occurred in 242 people after an initial vaccination with Astrazeneca. According to authorities in the UK, 22.6 million people had received their first vaccination with Astrazeneca by the end of April.

As the drug authority further announced, there is now evidence in Great Britain that women are more affected by blood clots than men. There, too, it can now be seen that the cases occur more frequently in younger people than in older people. This must be taken into account when using the agent, according to an MHRA report. However, the British authorities did not change their general recommendation for the vaccine for all age groups. The benefits of vaccination continue to outweigh the risks for the majority of people.
