Corona warning app: New function makes going out easier

Anyone who wants to attend a concert or enjoy Christmas dinner in a restaurant must meet the 3G rule or even the 2G rule – i.e. be vaccinated, recovered or tested negative. The verification of the evidence can be time-consuming and drag on – the colder it is outside, the greater the frustration in the procedure. The latest version 2.15 of the Corona Warning App (CWA) now makes it easier for organizers or companies to quickly check Covid certificates.

Certificate checks for ticket bookings

Small disclaimer in advance: According to the blog of the Corona-Warn-App Open Source Project, the new system will only work if the provider supports the new validation system. If that’s the case, it works like this: Let’s say you want to book a concert ticket online. At a certain point in the booking process, you have the option of providing the relevant proof for each person (proof of recovery, vaccination and / or test). You should make absolutely sure that the name stored in the certificate that you want to use for verification corresponds exactly to the name that you entered in the booking system. If this is not the case, you cannot select the corresponding certificate in the Corona warning app. There are two booking options:
  1. You book from the computer and to scan then use the Corona warning app to enter the QR code that is displayed to her during the booking process. Open Open the app and select the QR code scanner in the middle of the application.
  2. If you book via your smartphone, you can get one Screenshot of the code and upload it to the CWA. she to open select the mentioned QR code scanner and open file.
With your approval in the CWA Select The certificate that will serve as evidence for you. So the app works with its own 3G rule: scanned, opened, dialed.

Corona warning app automatically selects certificates

The update of the Corona warning app is supposed to make going out easier: It now checks the requirements of the provider and only displays certificates that meet them.

During the test, the CWA automatically adapts to the requirements of the provider and only shows you the certificates that meet these requirements. After you have selected a certificate and once again agreed to the transmission, the certificate is temporarily encrypted to the validation service and the certificates are checked. The certificates remain on your own smartphone and are never saved in the validation system. After a while, the user will see in the app whether the certificate has been successfully verified or not.

iOS users can now download the update from the App Store, Android users have to wait up to 48 hours for the new version of the Corona warning app to land on their smartphone.
