Coronavirus: 50 health professionals challenge Olivier Véran on the circulation of the virus in children

In an open letter published this Sunday, December 26 in the JDD, 50 health professionals question the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on the level of circulation of Covid-19 in children.

They are worried about the consequences on the health of the youngest and are calling for measures to curb the epidemic at school.

In this letter, they recall that “since the beginning of November, more than 300,000 children and adolescents have been confirmed positive for Covid-19” with “more than 800 children under 10 years old and 300 adolescents aged 10 to 19 years hospitalized in six weeks “.

For these doctors and scientists, school is undoubtedly an important place for the transmission of the virus, building on the many clusters in schools in recent weeks. “One of the first clusters of the Omicron variant was also detected in one of these establishments”, they recall.

Thus, health professionals are asking for several means of action to curb the number of contaminations in children. They believe in particular that Olivier Véran is responsible for managing the health situation in schools.
