Coronavirus in France: the results of this Wednesday, January 19


The Omicron variant is hitting the country with full force and continues to cause concern, although a slight drop in intensive care units seems to be taking shape. The daily update on the Covid-19 epidemic in France, with figures from Public Health France and the Ministry of Health.

CONTAMINATIONS

This Wednesday, January 19, 436,167 contaminations were recorded in 24 hours.

HOSPITALIZATIONS

In the hospital, the number of Covid patients was 27,230 on Tuesday, against 26,526 yesterday Tuesday. 3,187 new patients have been admitted in the past 24 hours.

Critical care services had 3,852 Covid-19 patients on Wednesday (with 330 new entries), compared to 3,881 on Tuesday.

DEATHS

In 24 hours, 215 people succumbed to Covid-19 in hospital, bringing the total death toll to 127,869 (hospitals and nursing homes included) since the start of the epidemic.

THE VACCINATION

On the vaccination side, more than 53.6 million people received at least one injection, i.e. 79.6% of the total population and 92.9% of the eligible population (+12 years). 52.3 million French people have a complete vaccination schedule, i.e. 78% of the total population and 90.7% of the eligible population.
