ROME (Reuters) – The Italian government plans to take further measures to prevent a rise in cases of COVID-19 contamination, the Italian press reported on Sunday, amid concerns about the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
After a council of ministers scheduled for December 23, the president of the Italian council, Mario Draghi could decide to ask people vaccinated to test negative for COVID-19 to go to high-traffic places, such as stadiums or discos, indicates the Corriere della Sera.
Negative tests may also be required to go to the cinema and the theater and wearing a mask outdoors may be mandatory.
Currently, people vaccinated or recently recovered from COVID-19 have free access to bars, restaurants, museums, cinemas and sports halls.
“Certain measures, such as wearing a compulsory mask, even
outside (…) could be taken soon, “one of the government’s scientific advisers told Corriere della Sera.
