“Monster’s Ball” star Coronji Calhoun Sr. died at the age of 30. Film mother Halle Berry is said to have donated money for the funeral.
US actor Coronji Calhoun Sr., who played the son of Halle Berry’s (55) character Leticia in the Oscar-winning film “Monster’s Ball”, has died at the age of only 30. According to a call for donations from his mother Theresa Bailey, asking for financial support for the funeral, Calhoun Sr. passed away on October 13th. According to the BBC, he suffered from heart problems.
Among the donors in the “Go Fund Me” campaign are the names of Halle Berry and Lee Daniels (61), who produced “Monster’s Ball”. According to “Entertainment Weekly” these are supposed to be the real stars, who each contributed around $ 3,400. A total of over $ 10,000 (as of November 11th) was raised.
Berry made history
Calhoun Sr. was only ten years old when Monster’s Ball was made. For her role in Marc Forster’s drama, Berry received the Oscar for “Best Actress” in 2002, making film history. She is the first and so far only African American woman to receive this honor.
