The Škoda Enyaq iV in the 77 kWh version comes up against our usual exercise of long summer and winter journeys. Let’s see how this electric SUV compares to others in terms of travel costs and charging time.
Electric SUVs are very numerous today. Many reviews don’t necessarily focus on what’s perhaps most important to a household’s main vehicle: its ability to travel long distances without a hitch. Today we focus on the Škoda Enyaq iV, which will come up against our simulation exercise of major summer and winter trips.
The rules will be as follows: the start will be at 100% battery, the finish at 20% and the vehicle will have to drive at the legal speed limits. After a reminder of the characteristics of the Škoda Enyaq iV with regard to autonomy and charging power, we will examine the details of our two great trips through France.
Thus, by comparing it to other vehicles that have already gone through this exercise, you will be able to define the one that will allow you to arrive safely at the lowest cost, and as quickly as possible. Without further ado, let’s take a look at how big trips are in the Škoda Enyaq iV.
The characteristics of the Škoda Enyaq iV 80
The Škoda Enyaq iV 80 has a battery of approximately 77 kWh, which gives it a range in the WLTP cycle of 544 kilometers. Don’t expect to be able to travel 500 kilometers of motorway without stopping, however.as we will see below: at high speed, autonomy melts like snow in the sun.
Its Combo CCS socket ensures fast charging on the many networks that are available today, such as Ionity, Fastned, Totalenergies or even Tesla Superchargers which are open to everyone.
With a maximum power of 135 kWthe Škoda Enyaq iV is not among the champions of fast charging, but it is able to defend itself against others if its consumption does not soar.
As always, we will use the A Better Route Planner, with the default benchmark consumption of the Škoda Enyaq iV 80.
Route planning
In order not to disadvantage certain vehicles compared to others according to their battery size, we start trips at 100% battery, considering that you have to pay for this filling at the average price per kWh in France, currently at 0.17 euros. The 77 kWh of the Škoda Enyaq iV then represents 13 euros. We will take this cost into account when making the financial statement for each major journey.
The first major route will simulate a summer vacation from Orléans to Arcachon (530 kilometres), while the winter route will start in Caen and end in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (850 kilometres).
For the summer route, the parameters shown in A Better Route Planner are as follows: 25 degrees Celsius outside temperature, no wind, arrival at a charging station with 10% battery remaining and arrival at destination at 20%. For the winter trip, it’s essentially the same, apart from the weather, where we chose a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius.
The balance sheet of the different routes
Less than 30 minutes charge for 530 kilometers
The axis taken by our summer trip is very supplied with fast chargers. For the Škoda Enyaq iV 80, A Better Route Planner suggests using two Ionity terminals, for a total of 27 minutes.
The first recharge comes after 280 kilometers traveled, which is rather very good for an electric SUV. The average consumption on this route reaches 211 Wh/km, which corresponds to a autonomy of approximately 365 kilometers with 100% battery.
The costs associated with these fast charges are estimated at 38 euros. Adding home charging, we arrive at a total of 51 euros for this 530 kilometer journey in a Škoda Enyaq iV 80.
Four recharges in winter, thank you Tesla and Ionity
Winter is a tricky time for electric vehicles. Between the consumption which flies away, the autonomy which decreases and the fast charging performance in decline, it is not ideal. However, thanks to its substantial battery and the network of fast chargers on the route between Caen and Haute-Savoie, the Škoda Enyaq iV has no trouble reaching the destination.
In total, four refills are required, lasting one hour and 18 minutes. The longest charge is 35 minutes, which can be a break for food.
The sum of the charges amounts to approximately 100 euros. Adding the cost of the starting charge, this amounts to 113 euros for this complete trip.
Note that consumption, although higher with 231 Wh/km, is less than 10% higher than on the summer route. This corresponds to a autonomy of 330 kilometers on the highway, in winter, with 100% battery for the Škoda Enyaq iV 80.
Consumption, cost of recharging and range
We summarize the costs and charging times (including home charging at 13 euros) in the table below. As we go through our examples, you will be able to see where the vehicle you are interested in is positioned in relation to the others on a similar journey.

Conclusion
As the first vehicle in the household, the Škoda Enyaq iV 80 is rather very satisfactory, since it travels the country without difficulty in both summer and winter. Of course, its large 77 kWh battery associated with the now correct mesh of the axes that we have chosen makes it easy to cover nearly 1,000 kilometers serenely. It is essential to plan your trip correctly before departure, however, and we have a file to help you in this process, in order to take full advantage of your electric vehicle.
In terms of the costs associated with these long journeys, the Škoda Enyaq iV 80 is rather among the good students. Indeed, with 9.60 euros per 100 kilometers in summer and around 13.30 euros in winter, the latter is better placed than the Kia EV6 77 kWh or the Hyundai Ioniq 5, thanks to lower consumption than the two champions. fast charging.
The different fast charging networks that can be used then make journeys of several hundred kilometers rather easy. The vehicle never drags on at a terminal, since the longest breaks barely exceed half an hour. Generally, the first vehicle in the household can easily be a Škoda Enyaq iV 80which does not lack assets in addition to its ability to travel long distances.
We had also appreciated during its test in 2021 the habitability and the comfort, making life on board pleasant for the driver as for the passengers.
