Costa Cordalis: Lucas Cordalis talks about his mother's pain

In an interview with "Bild am Sonntag" ("BamS"), Lucas Cordalis (52) looked back on a year without his father Costa Cordalis, who lived on July 2, 2019 at the age of 75 in the family of his family in the adopted home of Mallorca had died of organ failure.

He misses him incredibly, says Cordalis. "But after his death I didn't have time to sink into a hole of deep grief or depression, because I had to be back at the start for my family," explains the musician. His mother Ingrid (76) in particular needs his support. "She is now sitting all alone in the big house on Mallorca. We bought her a dog so she could be distracted and go out," says Cordalis. Shortly after the death of his father, the widow even felt "quite well" because she was used to the fact that his father often went on long tours. "But at some point she realized that he wasn't going to come back this time. That was bad for her."

The family hears his music on the first day of his death

The urn of the late pop singer is in his home in Mallorcan Santa Ponsa. Lucas Cordalis explains that he was a family man and always wanted to gather his loved ones around him. "So he can always be there now." The family will spend the first anniversary of the Schlager icon's death on Mallorca, says Lucas Cordalis. "I think we will go to my mother's house, light dad's candle in the living room, listen to music and remember the wonderful moments with him."

According to "BamS", the 52-year-old, together with his wife Daniela Katzenberger (33) and daughter Sophia (4), sorted out his father's last stored belongings from Germany last week in order to have them brought to Mallorca. Among the memorabilia from the former house in the Black Forest were, among other things, gold records and first pressings of the greatest songs by Costa Cordalis.
