A man presented the head and genitals of a murder victim to a police station in the south of France. The 38-year-old came to the police station on Friday in the Côte d’Azur town of Fréjus with a bag and declared that he had killed someone, reported the regional newspaper “Var-Matin”, referring to a message from the gendarmerie.
The officers found a severed head and penis in the bag. The man also disclosed the identity of his victim. The investigators later found the decapitated and mutilated body in the 38-year-old’s apartment in the Villeneuve district.
As a neighbor of the alleged perpetrator told «Var-Matin», the man lived with his wife and children. “The tragedy must have occurred in the morning while the children were in school,” the newspaper quoted the neighbors as saying.
Neighbors knew victims briefly
The victim was also known in the neighborhood. Another neighbor said the suspect had previously used drugs and was in jail. He speculated that it might have been the drugs that linked the two men. At the time of the crime, the perpetrator’s wife was also present. The neighbors heard screams and the woman was completely distraught.
The man came into custody and is now to be examined psychiatric. He was only known to the police because of minor offenses. The background to the fact is still completely unclear. The relationship between the perpetrator and his victim has not yet been verified either.
