Countryman stabbed – murder in Graz: Georgians caught after 18 years

18 years after the murder of a Georgian on the open street in Graz, a fellow countryman who is a suspect has now been arrested in Germany. The 52-year-old is said to have killed a 29-year-old in Graz in 2005 with a stab in the heart. A fingerprint scan confirmed the identity of the fugitive.

The 18-year flight of the 52-year-old ended four days ago at Dortmund Airport. As the German authorities announced on Tuesday, the man arrived at the airport on Friday evening with a flight from Kutaisi in Georgia. The Georgian is said to have been very nervous at passport control. With good reason: the officials found out that the man was being sought on the basis of an international arrest warrant have killed. The bloody deed was preceded by a dispute over the theft of 2,000 euros. The murder suspect was arrested by the German police and will be brought before the responsible magistrate.
