Couple commit suicide in bloody ritual with sad memory device

On the night of April 15-16, 2023, a couple committed suicide in the state of Gujarat in India. Their suicide, particularly macabre, would have occurred during a ritual ceremony.

Hemubhai Makwana (38) and his wife Hansaben (35) committed suicide on the night of April 15 to 16, 2023. The Indian couple, residing in the commune of Vinchiya, in the state of Gujarat, allegedly engaged in a ritual ceremony followed by a particularly macabre double suicide. Indeed, according to information from theHindustan Times, they would have made two artisanal guillotinespositioned near a “fire altar” in order to decapitate at the same time.

According to the first results of the investigation, the two Indians would have settled in a hut on their farm. They would have lit the fire in an altar before placing themselves under their guillotines, held by some ropes. “As soon as they released the rope, an iron blade fell on them, cutting off their heads, which rolled into the fire“said police sub-inspector Indrajeetsinh Jadeja.

The couple would have left a letter to explain their gesture

Once there, investigators discovered a letter left by Hemubhai Makwana and his wife Hansaben for their loved ones. In it, they would have indicated that they would have committed suicide during a ritual sacrifice. The parents of two children would also have asked their relatives to take care of their parents and children.

In India, many people continue to practice rituals, including human sacrifice in order to please the gods. Between 2014 and 2021, at least 100 cases sacrifices have been reported in India. Typically, these cases relate to abducteestortured and then beheaded rather than suicides.
