Couple rents Ferrari SF90, wants to overtake – burns in car after accident

It was supposed to be a real luxury experience: A couple from Switzerland had booked the “Sardinia Supercar Experience” for six days, during which they and a few other participants raced across the Italian island in Ferraris and Lamborghinis, visited viewpoints and stayed overnight in the finest hotels should.

How “South Tyrol news” reported, everything turned out differently.

The couple wanted to overtake a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder on a straight line

On October 2nd, the group set off from the town of Teulada to the coast of Iglesias, reports “Südtirolnews”. At the destination we wanted to take a lunch break and then jet on to Mores for the night.

But late in the morning, near San Giovanni Suergiu, the Swiss couple began racing on a straight line with an Indian couple who were driving a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder. When the Ferrrari SF90 collided with an uninvolved motorhome, a huge crash ultimately occurred, throwing a total of four vehicles off the road.

The Ferrari immediately overturned several times and caught fire before bursting into flames. The Swiss couple burned to death while locked in a luxury car.

Other drivers survived

“Südtirolnews” also reports that the occupants of the other three vehicles all survived. After the accident, State Road 195 was closed in both directions and the fire department and rescue helicopter rushed to the scene.
