Covid-19 at school: “Nasal torture”, parents prefer to provide false self-test certificates

Tired of carrying out self-tests several times a week, parents of students prefer to provide false certificates for their child to return to class

They prefer to write false affidavits rather than inflict “nasal torture” on their children. Some parents are exhausted from carrying out several self-tests per week for their child contact case at school. According to the health protocol in force in schools, a student must carry out a first self-test on the day he learns to be a contact case, then a second on D + 2, and a third on D + 4. If he is again a contact case after seven days, he must repeat the series of tests. “Three cotton swabs in the nostrils three times a week is too much. We say stop”, testifies to the Parisian Sébastien, a parent of a student living in Niort (Deux-Sèvres).

” This is no longer possible “

To ensure that the self-test is negative and allow the child to return to class, parents must write a sworn statement. In order to avoid tests for his son in CM2 class, Sébastien did not hesitate to produce a false certificate. And it’s not the only one. “If we had continued to test our 6-year-old daughter this week, she would be on her ninth self-test since the start of the school year. This is no longer possible,” laments another father. “She was afraid that I had come to test her again. I decided to stop the nasal torture. »

Some parents even use trickery to prevent their child from “reporting” them to the teacher. A 30-year-old explains that he “barely tickles the nostrils” with the swab to pretend to carry out the self-test for his 3-year-old son. Even if his statements are “lies”, he claims that the situation would be “unmanageable” for him, because of his professional activities. He prefers not to risk his son’s test being positive, especially if he has no symptoms. Otherwise, he assures that he would carry out a test directly in the pharmacy, with an antigen or a PCR.
