The number of Covid-19 contamination is in any case on the rise again (+ 33% in one week), indicates Monday, September 12 Public Health France. Currently, there are nearly 17,000 cases of contamination per day on average.

From Sunday September 11 to Monday September 12, 4,579 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in France. A figure down from the previous day (16,422) but up compared to Monday, September 5 (3,443). Moreover, incidence rate has further increased. It is 178.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against 173 on Sunday.
The incidence rate is on the rise, especially in children under 10 years of age. This increase began shortly before the start of the school year and increased with the return to school. This increase could be explained by the fact that barrier gestures were somewhat forgotten during the holidays, favoring contamination.
In addition, the number of tests carried out has been increasing for two weeks.
Omicron BA5, the variant currently in circulation, remains highly contagious. If it is less dangerous than the previous ones, 13,183 patients are still hospitalized because of Covid-19, including 725 in critical care.
Since March 2020, the Covid-19 epidemic has killed 125,407 people in hospitals.
