Covid-19: in Limoges, FFP2 masks for teachers and nursery staff

If the French health authorities are not in favor of the generalization of the wearing of the FFP2 mask, although it is more protective against the spread of the coronavirus, some cities nevertheless prefer to play the card of caution. This is the case of Limoges which distributed 12,600 FFP2 masks to teachers and all staff in contact with early childhood.

“Faced with a crisis like the one we are going through, municipalities have this ability to act faster than a government”, commented on Monday Vincent Jalby, first deputy in charge of education issues. “I also saw that Marseille and Cannes had followed suit”.

The operation, which could be renewed until April, could cost “between 10,000 and 40,000 euros depending on the decision we will make over the weeks, depending on the evolution of the pandemic”, we say to the town hall of Limoges.

For Vincent Jalby, it is about adapting as closely as possible to needs: “Each week, we bring together the Covid watch unit and we try to find the best solutions.” It was during a cell of this type that the mayor LR Emile Roger Lombertie made this decision “by identifying kindergarten teachers as professionals more particularly exposed to the Omicron variant”, according to the same source.
