FFaced with the increase in Covid-19 contaminations in recent months in France, many French people could be tempted to be vaccinated again as the end of the year celebrations approach. As indicated by BFMTV, a vaccination booster allows you to protect yourself and your loved ones against the virus, before Christmas Eve with your family. “Christmas or no Christmas, getting vaccinated is imperative, it’s really the moment”, warns immunology professor Alain Fischer, addressing specifically people deemed to be at risk.
“The virus is circulating a lot”, he adds, who calls on the French to update themselves concerning their vaccination against Covid-19. At present, the fourth dose is open to all “fragile” people, i.e. those over 60, nursing home residents, people with comorbidities and affected by immunosuppression and pregnant women. All people who live or are in regular contact with fragile people are also called upon to be vaccinated again.
Seniors shun booster shots
This reminder is all the more important as the vaccination campaign has been on hold for several months, despite the rebound in the epidemic. According to figures from the Ministry of Health relayed by BFMTV, only two million people have received an injection adapted to the variants. Regarding seniors, less than one person aged 80 or over in ten (9.4%) received a reminder and only 7.2% of the 60-79 age group.

For people brought to find people at risk for the end of year celebrations, Alain Fischer advises them to be vaccinated at least eight days before finding their loved ones, so that the vaccination takes full effect. And may their New Year’s Eve not be spoiled by the epidemic rebound.
