The president of the Scientific Council Jean-François Delfraissy, considered that a lifting of the vaccination pass towards the end of March was realistic, if the epidemic situation continued to improve.
In an interview with Le Parisien, Jean-François Delfraissy announced that “if the good figures continue, considering lifting the vaccine pass” in the spring could be “conceivable”.
This hypothesis is possible because of the decrease in contamination linked to the Omicron variant. Thus, if it continues to “ebb”, “the question of whether or not to maintain the pass will arise”.
According to an Ifop poll for the JDD, published this Thursday, February 17, 71% of French people would be in favor of lifting the vaccination pass before July 31, 2022, its current date of validity.
Caution
The president of the Scientific Council, however, issued a warning about a new strategy to live with the virus.
“Just because the disease is endemic doesn’t mean it’s not serious! It will take a long time for Sars-Cov-2 to become as mild as other coronaviruses. There will be times of high viral circulation,” he recalled.
A fourth non-generalized dose
With regard to vaccination, Jean-François Delfraissy estimated that a fourth dose would be relevant, but “for the most fragile vaccinated for six months”.
The latter also mentioned “a new vaccination campaign in October”. However, the specialist assured that it would “not go towards a generalized fourth dose”.
