The 49th edition was to take place from Thursday 27 January to Sunday 30 January 2022. It could perhaps be held in March or April, on dates to be defined.

The Angoulême International Comics Festival (FIBD) will not take place as planned, from Thursday January 27 to Sunday January 30, 2022. The event bears the brunt of the deteriorated health situation and recent government announcements, in particular the in place of limited gauges for large events. It is postponed “probably for three months, perhaps at the end of March or in April”, we learned from the organizer, the company 9e Art +, which confirmed to “South West” an indiscretion of the newspaper ” Release ”.

Franck Bondoux, the general delegate of the festival, explains to our colleagues to look for the right period, “in a valley of contamination rather than in full peak like today”.

Already canceled in 2021

He also said that “given the state of progress of the festival and the sums committed when deciding on a postponement, the future of the FIBD is threatened if the state does not help the event”.

Remember that the FIBD is going through a difficult period. Only a minimal digital variation and almost behind closed doors took place at the end of January 2021. The event was to be held at the end of June 2021. It ultimately did not take place.

The upcoming edition, the forty-ninth, the selection of which was unveiled on November 23, 2021 in Paris, must put Chris Ware and René Goscinny in the spotlight.
