On April 7, the National Academy of Medicine released new recommendations to avoid contaminating his home with the Covid-19. In addition to the barrier measures, it notably alerted to the risks of transmission of the coronavirus. With these new rules, the institution hopes to reduce the spread of the virus in families.

Ventilate the accommodation for at least 20 minutes

For example, touching your face regularly with your hands promotes the circulation of the virus, as these hands can be contaminated. During the health crisis, it is better to avoid wearing your fingers to your nose, mouth and eyes. Ventilation of the home is also essential to reduce the presence of the virus in the home. Morning and evening, open your windows for 20 minutes to refresh the air in the rooms.

Covid-19: Hand cleaning, an essential gesture

To eliminate the risk of contamination in the home, the National Academy of Medicine recommended washing your hands after going outside. Regarding hand washing, it is advisable to use warm water and soap for at least 30 seconds and to rub well between the fingers, under the nails, on the back of the hands and on the wrists.

Coronavirus: the importance of disinfecting one's environment

"SARS-CoV-2 is a so-called "enveloped" virus, therefore fragile, incapable of lasting survival in the environment. It is not the environment that is primarily responsible for the spread of the virus, but people-to-people contacts " said the National Academy of Medicine in its statement.

To disinfect your home, the institution gave several tips:

  • Clean the surfaces handled by all members of the household (toilets, door handles, the living room table): You can disinfect them with wipes soaked in 70% alcohol or diluted bleach (one volume of bleach for nine volumes of water).
  • Disinfect cell phones, remote controls, keyboards and computer mice: As with inert surfaces, you can clean these objects with wipes impregnated with 70% alcohol.
  • Be careful with food: When you return from shopping, put all unnecessary packaging in the trash and wash your hands again. As a precaution, run vegetables and fruit underwater to clean them.
