Face to Covid-19, “we must speed up, strengthen teleworking”. This is what the Minister of Labor, Élisabeth Borne, said on Europe 1, Wednesday, December 22. She therefore called on companies to “accelerate” the use of teleworking, asking them to prepare “now” to “strengthen” it at the start of the school year with a target of 3 to 4 days per week.
“I ask companies to prepare now to strengthen teleworking at the start of the school year, therefore on January 3, with a target of at least three days for positions that allow it, or even four days when possible”, a- she declared. At present, the health protocol in companies provides that “employers set, within the framework of local social dialogue, the methods of recourse” to teleworking, adding that “in the context of an epidemic recovery, the target must be to two to three days ”per week.
Labor inspection checks returned at “a rate of 5,000 checks per month”
Emphasizing the “consensus” with unions and employers on the need to accelerate teleworking, the minister also noted that the Harris Interactive survey conducted regularly by her ministry shows that “nearly 60% of employees who can easily telework ( …) Did so last week, on average three days a week ”. It also noted that the controls of the labor inspectorate “are strengthened”, returned to “a rate of 5,000 controls per month”.

According to the survey carried out for the Ministry of Labor, among workers who can telework easily and who worked from December 13 to 19, 58% teleworked at least partially (62% in Île-de-France), including 18% full-time . They were 53% the week of November 29 to December 5 (compared to 70% from November 2 to 8, 2020). Among working people who teleworked, the average number of days was 3 days, compared to 2.9 in the week of November 29.
The survey was conducted online from December 15 to 19 with a sample of 2,019 people representative of French people aged 18 and over, among whom 1,166 active workers are represented.
