All masked in the ski resorts of the Alps. To fight against the surge in Covid-19 cases, the prefectures of Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Isère and Hautes-Alpes have announced the return of the mask outdoors.
In Isère, the obligation to wear a mask outdoors from the age of eleven has been extended until further notice to the ski resorts of Deux-Alpes, Alpes-d’Huez, Chamrousse and Villard-de -Lans, where the crowd is “strong […], especially at this time of year, ”the prefecture said Thursday evening.
In the Hautes-Alpes, the prefecture decided on Thursday to extend this same restriction to “snow fronts and in resort centers from December 31 and for a period of one month”.
Several ski resorts concerned in Savoie and Haute-Savoie
These new measures come in addition to those recently enacted in ski resorts by the neighboring departments of Savoie and Haute-Savoie. In Savoie, the wearing of a mask outdoors was in force in the thirty-eight ski resorts of the department since December 24 and will remain so unless extended until January 4.
In Haute-Savoie, a decree taken on November 30 makes this restriction mandatory in forty-six municipalities in the department, including several winter sports resorts, until January 4. Thursday evening, the prefecture of the department extended this restriction to 51 municipalities. All the municipalities concerned by the measure can be found on the sites of the prefectures.
