With an incidence rate of less than 1,800, Seine-Saint-Denis is today the least affected department in Île-de-France, and even in the whole of the metropolis. The incidence rate has dropped by 37% compared to last week and hospital services can breathe again. How to explain this virtual return to normal?

DECRYPTION

The Covid-19 epidemic is decreasing sharply in Seine-Saint-Denis. With an incidence rate of less than 1,800, the department is the least affected in Île-de-France, and even in the whole of the metropolis. The incidence rate has dropped by 37% compared to last week and hospital services can breathe again. Frédéric Adnet, medical director of SAMU 93, explains on Europe 1 the reasons for this virtual return to normal.

Immunization of the population

“We think that it is above all due to the immunization of the population, because by dint of having an extremely high incidence rate, the population of Seine-Saint-Denis has necessarily become immunized”, he says. “In addition, with vaccination, we must have an extremely high immunization rate which can, in my opinion, explain this sudden drop in the incidence rate in Seine-Saint-Denis.” This fall in the incidence rate is felt positively in the hospitals of Seine-Saint-Denis.

A hospital that cares about patients

“We can see this very well in our hospital. We still have significant pressure in terms of hospital services, but in terms of resuscitation, emergencies and Samu, we have a significant drop. We will be able to reschedule patients that we had been deprogrammed because of the epidemic and return to a hospital that will take care of the patients.

The situation is improving throughout France. “Across the country, we have passed the peak of contaminations. (…) We are reaching the peak of hospitalizations”, declared Olivier Véran on BFMTV. “We did the hardest part of this wave,” added the Minister of Health.
