Cowboy electric bikes become even more secure with this new function

Cowboy updates its electric bikes and its mobile application, from which it is now possible to activate an audible alarm. The latter is then generated by the motor, to help you better locate your mount. Other more minor new features have also been deployed.

Cowboy is today a brand firmly anchored in the landscape of connected electric bikes. What’s more, since the unfortunate bankruptcy of VanMoof – the group was fortunately bought – considered one of its main historical competitors.

To make itself known, the Belgian brand has focused everything on e-bikes with a modern and refined design, as well as omnipresent connectivity. Obviously, the security of its fleet has been at the heart of the specifications for many years now. This is good: it is now reinforced thanks to a new functionality.

A new audible alarm

In an update deployed this Monday, November 13, Cowboy integrates an audible alarm into its electric bikes. Alarm generated by the engine and activated from the Cowboy mobile application. The idea is to help you increasingly locate your stolen mount. This new feature is complementary to GPS which already allows you to locate your property within a few meters.

If your bike is hidden somewhere, ringing it can give you some interesting sound precision. And distance won’t be too much of a concern, since you can trigger said alarm at a range of 30 meters all the same.

Flight report to generate

In his press release sent to the editorial office, Cowboy also explains that a dead battery will not prevent you from locating the bike. How ? Thanks to a small emergency cell hidden inside the VAE, which allows it to be tracked for a week. The manufacturer does not specify whether the alarm can also work in this case.

Two other small new features are included in this update: the possibility of generating a flight report in the form of a link, directly within the application. This report generates key bike data, such as its last location, serial number, color and model. Everything can easily be shared with the police or your insurance company. Finally, Cowboy evokes a new compass view (see photo).

For all Cowboys and Bones

This update applies to all Cowboy e-bikes, both for iOS and Android users. Incidentally, the Belgian company does not hesitate to highlight the excellent recovery rate of stolen Cowboy VAEs, which stands at 94%. Proof that GPS chips make a lot of sense in electric bikes.
