The Cowboy brand is launching an electric bike trade-in program, followed by reconditioning and resale through Upway, with a discount.
Some electric bikes have increased their prices significantly, going against the current market trend – taking into account the countless promotions observed since 2023. Cowboy is one of those who have recently increased their prices, at least for the Cowboy Cruiser and Cowboy Cruiser ST, now sold for 2999 euros. However, the Belgian brand offers the opportunity for a discount on these models, with an alternative solution: cycling recovery, we learn in a press release sent to the editorial staff.
A bike trade-in bonus for the purchase of a Cowboy
To benefit from it, you must already own an electric bike. Cowboy’s bike take-back program was designed in partnership with Upway, the leader in reconditioned electric bikes in Europe. On a specific page of the official site, it is possible to estimate your electric bike among 200 brands.
The Belgian firm already gives an average price “greater than 1,000 euros”, which will be increased by 150 euros for the – obligatory – purchase of a new Cowboy model. Surprisingly, former Cowboys are not yet entitled to this cycling recovery. It’s only temporary, it will happen “later, this summer”.
A return to cycling in a limited number of large cities
Then, a “Cowboy expert” must validate the estimate online, either in person at home, or in a store of the brand or one of its partners. From your purchase of a Cowboy, the said estimated amount of your electric bike ready for trade-in is then deducted, as well as the 150 euros bonus delivered by the Belgian brand. If your VAE is taken back at 1000 euros – combined with 150 euros – then a Cowboy Cruiser will, for example, only cost you 1850 euros instead of 3000 euros.
On the other hand, due to the network still being insufficiently dense, only 25 cities in Europe are concerned for this launch, in “Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria”.
