Craig Wright on trial for tampering with evidence: self-proclaimed inventor of Bitcoin in PLS

The sprinkler watered? – Although Craig S. Wright has claimed since May 2016 to be Satoshi Nakamoto – the inventor of Bitcoin, he never brought the slightest formal and irrefutable proof. This did not prevent him from taking legal action against the whole planet, as well against developers of Bitcoin, BCH, or even his own project (BSV). Except that this time, it is indeed Craig Wright who is accused of forgery.

The very litigious Craig Wright caught in his own trap

The crypto project BSV is a hard fork occurred in November 2018 of Bitcoin Cash (BCH), which is itself a fork of Bitcoin (BTC). Craig wright, which supports this blockchain, claims that it is ” the truth “, because he would be himself Satoshi Nakamoto.

The one we nickname “Faketoshi” (because he has never been able to prove his point) has many times created legal concerns to Bitcoin supporters. He had even succeeded in having the white paper of Bitcoin from the site Bitcoin.org, under the pretext that it was its creation, before Miami City Hall and other BTC supporters repost it massively on the Net.

According to an article in the British media The Register, Craig Wright will be this time on the dock, in front, there High Court of England. Some of the complaints brought against him by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) were in fact retained by the judge Paul Matthews.

Charges of fabricating (and using) false evidence

In the extracts proposed by The Register concerning the complaint filed by COPA against Craig Wright, we can read in particular:

“Since around 2016, the Respondent has publicly claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto. This complaint was made in order to test these claims (…) on several occasions, when Wright sought to prove that he is Satoshi by means of documentary evidence, it was shown that the documents on which he relies are not what he claims to be (…) The plaintiff (COPA) will establish during the trial of this case, by means of computer evidence (…) that the aforementioned documents are, in fact, false (…) unless [le défendeur] won’t admit it on his own. “

The accusation detention by Judge Matthews, in his late-December 2021 ruling, deals with so-called evidence that Wright provided in 2016, to show that he would have mined block N ° 9 of the Bitcoin blockchain. The latter being attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto, like all the first blocks.

Counterfeit fake bitcoin

Wright presented reporters at the time with a digital signature, claiming that she proved he had the private key allowing to manage the BTC mined with the block N ° 9. However, if the prosecution proves that the signature was publicly available in the blockchain, it will also prove that it was there a counterfeit Craig Wright’s volunteer, if he presented it as evidence.

Another charge of forgery, which will also be tried in the High Court, relates to a E-mail that Wright would have sent in 2008 to his business partner David kleiman. According to COPA, this message would be a fake, because a domain name (information-defense[.]com) present in a copy of the email “Has not been created before 2009 “.

If the British justice does not take too much delay (in particular because of the health crisis), the trial of Craig Wright will take place during this year 2022. Hopefully this will at least have the merit of calming the judicial ardor of the most famous of the Faketoshis , and that the latter take the opportunity to devote himself to the network of his BSV crypto, which seems in poor condition.
