Crashed through Thujen – microsleep: Styrian woman landed in the pool with her car

On Tuesday afternoon, a 61-year-old crashed through the fence and thuja hedge of a single-family home in St. Peter im Sulmtal in western Styria and landed her car in the pool. The trigger for the wild ride was microsleep. The driver escaped with minor injuries.

The 61-year-old was traveling on Sulmtal-Straße (B74) around 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon when her eyes closed. She left the road to the right and drove over a street post and through the thuja hedge of a single-family home. It crashed through the fence and landed in the property’s pool. A picture of devastation It must have been a shock for the family living there. The force of the vehicle tore the fence out of the ground and destroyed the pool. The car’s airbags also deployed. Woman only slightly injured The woman from the Deutschlandsberg district suffered minor injuries and was taken to the LKH Weststeiermark. Both the car and the pool that was set up were totaled. 15 emergency services from the St. Peter im Sulmtal and Deutschlandsberg fire departments joined forces to rescue the vehicle – it was lifted off the property using a crane.
