Friends in the morning, murderers and victims in the evening. And all because of mayonnaise. That’s exactly what happened to two men in Pisgah, Iowa, last December, the New York Post reports.
Actually, a cozy evening in a bar was planned. Kristoph E. (28) and Caleb S. (30) had arranged to meet for a beer and dinner. But the get-together took an unexpected turn when E. spilled mayonnaise on his colleague’s meal.
The situation escalated, and a fight broke out in the bar. When the two men had calmed down, 28-year-old E. drove away.
Ramming once wasn’t enough
The matter was not eaten with that. Later that evening, E., meanwhile in another bar, pissed off and very drunk, called S.’s brother and complained to him about his friend. He threatened to torch S.’s house and even shoot him.
The brother tried to calm the exhausted E. – and to mediate between the brawlers. Both men should meet in one place and make peace. But that didn’t happen. On the contrary. E. was just waiting for revenge. When the brother appeared with his car, E. rammed him several times with his SUV. The brother finally managed to flee in his now battered car.
When S. also arrived a short time later, E. didn’t want anything to do with peace. He promptly ran over his friend and wanted to drive away. But when he noticed that S. was still alive, he turned around and ran over the 30-year-old again. He didn’t stand a chance and didn’t survive the SUV attack.
E. was arrested shortly afterwards. Now he has been tried. With the verdict: life imprisonment. And all because of a packet of mayonnaise. (ced)
