crazy gameplay for this Dark Souls-style game

During a long dedicated showcase, Moon Studios (Ori) presented its next game in great detail: No Rest for the Wicked. And it really makes me want to play it!

This is rather good, since the studio, with the publishing support of Private Division, also took the opportunity to announce the release date of No Rest for the Wicked in early access. See you to try it very soon: April 18, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S!

No Rest for the Wicked, nor for Moon Studios

After the truly sublime Ori games, Moon Studios obviously wanted a change of scenery. They have apparently been considering developing an Action-RPG for their next project for some time. We saw the result for the first time at the Game Awards 2023, with a trailer directly setting the tone. Goodbye to the poetic and magnificent forests of Ori, make way for a much more gloomy atmosphere that the Souls-like games would not have denied. This is No Rest for the Wicked.

The gameplay of this new game also marks a notable difference, swapping the Metroidvania for an isometric view exploration à la Diablo. Action-RPG obliges, the adventure will be punctuated by visibly demanding combat and loot in abundance, with different levels of rarity. Fans of theory-crafting and challenges should therefore feel right at home. Considering that the house is particularly unwelcoming, populated by nightmarish creatures.

A deliciously dark universe that will soon open up to us

No Rest for the Wicked thus places its story on the island of Sacra. The king is dead and leaves behind an internal struggle for power. On the one hand, his young son is the rightful claimant to the throne. On the other hand, the most influential person in the Church is trying to rally his followers to depose him. All this is happening while a terrible plague is raging across the world. The stage is set for an adventure that will give pride of place to bloodshed and horrors of all kinds.

Everything is also supported by a deliciously dark artistic direction. Moon Studios has already shown its incredible visual talent with the hand-drawn designs of Ori games. No Rest for the Wicked will obviously be no exception. In any case, this is a very intriguing cocktail, which we will very soon have the opportunity to try for ourselves. The game will indeed be released in early access on April 18 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Enough to help us wait for a full release which is still uncertain, but which we are already monitoring closely.
