While displays are becoming more and more elongated, LG is going in the other direction. A dual monitor that has now been announced is almost square and relies on the unusual aspect ratio of 16:18. This should save us from neck pain, claims LG.
LG DualUp: desktop monitor with double display
Shortly before CES 2022, LG announced a new monitor that is sure to attract attention at the trade fair – and perhaps also cause occasional shaking of the head. The LG DualUp basically consists of two displays that are arranged one above the other. This results in the rather unusual aspect ratio of 16:18. The manufacturer calls the resolution 2,560 x 2,880 pixels, which should stand for “SDQHD”. According to the LG, the “SD” means “Square Double”.
LG advertises the monitor as “innovative” because it supposed to minimize neck pain can. After all, the head no longer has to be turned from left to right and vice versa in order to be able to capture all the information on the monitor. The display itself has a split view function to show two desktops with a diagonal of 21.5 inches each. The monitor stand, which can also be adjusted in height, is designed to be flexible and has a swivel joint (source: LG).
The LG DualUp is particularly bright with its 300 nits not necessarily. The contrast ratio is 1000: 1, HDR10 is supported. The response time is given as 5 milliseconds. Two HDMI ports are available in addition to a DisplayPort and a USB hub. Stereo speakers are also included.

LG would like to officially present its special monitor as part of CES 2022. A virtual press conference will be held on January 4th. Then that too should Price for the almost square LG DualUp be communicated. It shouldn’t be a bargain.
