Creality continues to innovate in 3D printing with the Ender-5 S1 and the Sonic Pad

Creality is an emblematic brand in the world of 3D printing, and it continues to develop its catalog. On the program for this end of the year, a new high-end 3D printer and the Sonic Pad, an accessory that changes the game.

After the Ender-3 series, updated this summer with a complete overhaul of its models, Creality has decided to upgrade one of the emblematic series of its catalog. At the end of the year, it is the Ender-5 which has the right to a little facelift in the form of an S1 version which includes all the latest innovations from the 3D printer manufacturer.

This end of the year also allowed him to enrich his range of accessories with the Sonic Pad. A remote screen full of surprises, capable of giving a facelift to your printing machines thanks to Kippler, a firmware improving performance and ergonomics.

Ender-5 S1: the revival of the Ender-5 series is underway

With this S1 version of the Ender-5, Creality offers one of its most advanced 3D printers in its catalog. It builds on the already very solid foundations of the Ender-5 series by giving it a facelift. For starters, it’s a Sprite extrusion engine in dual gear direct drive which makes its appearance, giving it a printing speed of up to 250 mm per second. This motor can also reach 300°, which ensures the Ender-5 S1 is compatible with more types of filaments (PLA, PC, PETG, ABS, TPU, HIPS and ASA).

To ensure smooth printing, the entire structure of the Ender-5 has been revised. This S1 version now has a cubic metal frame, as well as silicone feet that limit vibrations during printing. The movements of the extrusion head on the X, Y and Z axes are provided by motors ” step by step» of high quality. Steel axles allow for their part to ensure the transmission with precision at all times, including at the maximum printing speed.

On the hardware side, Creality did not go to the economy by equipping this Ender-5 S1 with a 32-bit motherboard and above all, a 16-point CR Touch leveling system to ensure the level of the tray. easy printing. A 4.3-inch touch screen is also included, to manage print settings directly from the printer. Icing on the cake, the interface (very clear) is fully translated into French. A USB Type-C port (to connect a key or a peripheral) and an SD card reader complete the whole thing.

Small improvements finally complete this update of the Ender-5. On the power supply side first, with the integration of the 350 W power supply unit into the base of the printer. A secure aviation-type connector will then be used to connect the printer to its power cable. . In order to ensure the integrity of the prints, to avoid external interference and to offer better temperature control, Creality also offers optional acrylic panels to isolate the printing surface from the outside.

Unveiled last November, the Creality Ender-5 S1 is currently available for 611 euros on the Creality store.

Sonic Pad: the remote screen that had more than one trick up its sleeve

The Sonic Pad looks like a screen that you can connect to your 3D printer, as long as it’s on the list of compatible machines. Equipped with a 7-inch IPS panel with a definition of 1024 by 600 pixels, it also has a 64-bit Creality T800 SoC, 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. A Wi-Fi module, as well as various ports (one RJ45 and 4 USB) complete this range. Enough to provide extra power to the vast majority of current machines, and add many features to them.

Thanks to the Sonic Pad, you can, for example, very easily connect a USB camera to monitor, capture or stream your printing sessions. Its Wi-Fi connection also allows you to control your printer remotely from your PC or smartphone using the dedicated application. Little more, the Sonic Pad is able to manage several 3D printers simultaneously.

But the real interest of this device undeniably lies in its software part. The Sonic Pad runs under Klipper, a firmware full of advantages and capable of truly transforming your 3D printing experience. In addition to a more aesthetic and ergonomic interface, it above all offers to increase the printing speed of your filament printer beyond the parameters indicated by the manufacturer.

How ? Well thanks to several factors. First of all, the technical sheet, which offers more computing power. Then, thanks to the algorithms and software provided by Klipper which make it possible to better manage the movements of the print head, including at high speed. Enough to reach a speed 2 to 5 times higher, all without any loss of quality.

Compatible with three Creality printer models at the time of its release, the Sonic Pad can now be used with 22 different references. The manufacturer should continue to update its product over the coming weeks and months to make it compatible with even more printers.

Better, the Sonic Pad follows the rules of the communityOpen Source, which allows users to modify the source code of the machine as they wish. Enough to allow it, for example, to work on 3D printers from other brands.

The Sonic Pad is already available for sale and is offered at a price of 189 euros.
