Creating and selling your “own” versions of ChatGPT is imminent

The store for searching and monetizing custom ChatGPT versions will open soon. OpenAI, the company behind the chatbot, promised this store during its first conference.

Do you think you can very skillfully “fine-tune” ChatGPT to make it work in a very specific way? Your skills will soon be on display for all to see. The American company OpenAI, which designed the famous chatbot, is due to open a store (GPT Store) in the coming days in which personalized ChatGPTs will be listed.

The imminent opening of the GPT Store was announced in a letter sent by OpenAI to Internet users registered as GPT Builders, reports The Verge in its January 4 edition. According to the email, the opening of the store’s doors is set for the week of January 8, 2024. Members of the project are invited to comply with OpenAI rules.

The idea of customized GPTs is, according to OpenAI, to have a conversational agent tailored as closely as possible to its needs. According to the company, it is not difficult to create one. It is not necessary to know how to code, you mainly have to converse with the chatbot and express what you want. By giving him instructions and knowledge, and telling him what to do, it would be possible, for example:

  • to have writing assistance (analyze a text and make suggestions),
  • to benefit from cleaning assistance (to know how to wash a stain),
  • to obtain troubleshooting assistance for your PC,
  • to create a private lesson for maths,
  • to imagine a simplified guide for a board game.

These were some examples given by OpenAI during its presentation. Other personalized bots can be considered, depending on the area in which we intend to use them. There are already special variants of ChatGPT, with various themes: law, design, real estate, finance, fashion, flirting, education, games, etc.

An announcement before OpenAI’s internal crisis

GPT Store was made official in November, during the first “OpenAI Dev Day” conference, during which other new features were announced: the arrival of GPT-4 Turbo, the update of the language model to April 2023 (instead of November 2022) and the launch of a service intended for businesses to have a customized (and very expensive) language model.

It was initially planned to launch this store more quickly, but this plan was disrupted due to significant internal problems in OpenAI. The founder and boss of the company, Sam Altman, found himself in a sequence where he was, in a very short time, ousted from the management of the group, then recalled, first for nothing, and then for good .
