Crime scene: radio silence: is it worth turning on the Frankfurt crime thriller?

In "Tatort: Funkstille" the Frankfurt detective Janneke and Brix investigate a murder case with surprising topicality on Sunday.

In the "Tatort: Funkstille" (September 13th, 8:15 pm, the first), the Frankfurt inspectors Anna Janneke (Margarita Broich, 60) and Paul Brix (Wolfram Koch, 58) have to solve the death of a young man, the abandoned places ("Lost Places") searched, found, filmed and distributed on the net.

This is what "Tatort: Funkstille" is about

Seventeen-year-old Emily Fisher (Emilia Bernsdorf) has an appointment at night in the park with the two-year-old neighbor boy Sebastian Schneider (Tobias Schäfer). But that doesn't come. At home, Emily learns that Sebastian fell to his death in a "Lost Place", an old factory building. For the chief inspectors Anna Janneke (Margarita Broich) and Paul Brix (Wolfram Koch) it quickly became clear that it was murder. On the internet they come across videos that Sebastian made with his buddy Adrian (Leon Seidel) in abandoned factory buildings.

Through Ulrich Schneider (Henning Peker), Sebastian's father, Janneke and Brix get to know their neighbors Raymond (Kai Scheve) and Gretchen Fisher (Tessa Mittelstaedt). The Fishers are a well integrated American family who speak perfect German. Gretchen works at the US consulate in Frankfurt, Raymond works for a large insurance company. In one of the "Lost Places" filmed by Sebastian, Brix finds – well hidden – a hint that Gretchen had an affair with Sebastian. Did Sebastian blackmail her? Could this be a motive for murder for Gretchen?

Is it worth switching on?

Yes. Because without wanting to reveal too much, the case is surprisingly topical in parts. Another reason to switch on is the reunion with actress Tessa Mittelstaedt (46), who from 2000 until her tragic film death in the crime thriller "Franziska" (2014) as the popular assistant Franziska Lüttgenjohann of the Cologne "Tatort" commissioner Ballauf (Klaus J. Behrendt ) and Schenk (Dietmar Bär) could be seen.

In general, the thriller is exciting and played well. In the latter context, in addition to Broich, Koch and the actors Kai Scheve (54) and Henning Peker (born 1966), the other leading actress in the episode, Emilia Bernsdorf (23), deserves special mention. The young actress embodies the rebellious and mysterious teen in the confusion of identity in an impressively complex manner.
