It’s been over a year since the streaming service Paramount+ commissioned the revival of the popular crime series “Criminal Minds”. In between there were even rumors that the project was quietly and secretly called off. But now it’s really supposed to take place and almost the entire original cast is at the start.

A start date for the new episodes of “Criminal Minds” has not yet been announced. That’s not surprising, after all, the deal wasn’t done yet. As soon as there is news at this point, you will find out about it at Netzwelt.
Criminal Minds: Storyline
In the new season, too, the focus will be on the work of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). The department deals with behavioral analysis, better known as offender profiling.

Unlike the original series, however, the Criminal Minds revival will not cover a new case in each episode and solve it at the end of the episode. This time, the team is dedicated to a single, tricky case over the course of the entire season.

Criminal Minds: Cast
The revival is said to be starring Joe Mantegna (“The Godfather 3”), Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez (“Penny Dreadful – City of Angels”, “Jane the Virgin”), AJ Cook, Aisha Tyler (“Fear the Walking Dead”) and Paget Brewster (“Community”, How I Met Your Father”) will return.
According to US magazine Deadline, the contract negotiations were initially put on hold in order to negotiate a deal with the series’ longtime executive producer/showrunner, Erica Messer. The negotiations were probably successful, because Messer will also be involved again.
Not included are Matthew Gray Gubler, who has indicated he’s ready to move on after 15 years as Spencer Reid, and Daniel Henney, who stars in Amazon’s The Wheel of Time.
Criminal Minds: Production
In 2021 there were concrete reports of a return of “Criminal Minds” for the first time. But then things didn’t get any further on this front for a long time and even the cast was convinced that the reboot was canceled after all. So Paget Brewster tweeted for example that it’s “unlikely” that there will be further progress on the Revival front.
However, the new season is really coming and work on the series has probably already begun, because Joe Mantegna gave us a little sneak peak onto the set via Twitter.
The new 10 episodes will be produced by ABC Signature and CBS Studios. It will then be broadcast in the USA on the Paramount+ streaming service.
