Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is “more than a remaster” according to Square Enix

Released at the time to flesh out the Final Fantasy 7 universe and more specifically to explore Zack’s past and his relationship with characters like Cloud, Aerith, Tifa and Sephiroth, Crisis Core begins seven years before the events of the main game. For this remaster developed with the Unreal Engine 4, Square Enix offers HD graphics, cinematics completely redone by Image Studio (formerly Visual Works), arrangements by composer Takeharu Ishimoto, full English / Japanese dubbing and a system of improved combat. Nothing, however, comparable to the titanic work done on a complete overhaul like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, let’s be clear.

Displaying a pretty resolution of 480×272 on PSP, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion should run smoothly in 4K and 120 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series X (1080p and 60 frames per second on Xbox Series S after applying a patch launch). On Switch, the game will display 720p and 30 frames per second. On PC, some configurations will allow a rate of 120 frames per second.

Note in passing that Square Enix has updated the sales of Final Fantasy 7, which remains the best-selling episode of the saga. The last figure communicated in April 2020 reported 12.6 million, but the game now claims 13.9 million sales on its various platforms. To be clear, this figure does not include any spin off nor the 5 million sales of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
