Lifesaving – Firefighter rescued baby from smoking kitchen

It was a series of unfortunate circumstances that resulted in a two-week-old infant being locked in a room where a pan on the stove had been allowed to smoke. Thanks to the decisive response of police and fire departments, the baby was saved.

The parents (34 and 30 years old) just wanted to go outside the house for a brief moment to dispose of the garbage. The timing seemed right because their two-week-old baby was sleeping peacefully in a bassinet in the kitchen-living room. However: When they stepped outside the front door, it was suddenly thrown shut by the wind, locking them both out. While the 30-year-old immediately drove off to get the spare key from her mother in Linz, the 34-year-old father tried to open a patio door to open by force. However, his plan failed. Smoke spread. The mishap became particularly explosive due to the fact that food was cooking on the stove and the pan began to smoke. The man therefore ran to the neighbor and pleaded for help. He immediately raised the alarm via an emergency call. Then the father and the neighbor tried to break down the door. But this attempt also failed. Meanwhile, the smoke in the room continued to spread. The fire department and two police patrols finally arrived at the house at the same time. Window broken openThe police managed to break open a front room window so that a firefighter could get in and rush to the baby. He took the newborn outside, where it was cared for by Red Cross paramedics and an emergency doctor. The child was then admitted to the Kepler University Hospital Linz for further treatment. Apparently there was no danger to life.
