Croatia: considered too noisy, wheeled suitcases prohibited in Dubrovnik


This measure aims to reduce noise pollution in the city, which disturbs the inhabitants of the city center. Luggage lockers will be installed.

VS’is an unusual measure in one of the most popular tourist cities of the Old Continent. As reported The Parisian, the city of Dubrovnik, Croatia, will now ban wheeled suitcases on the territory. This radical decision aims to combat the noise pollution complained of by many inhabitants of the historic center of the city.

Instead of rolling them, tourists will be forced to carry their suitcases by hand this summer. To help its visitors, Dubrovnik will introduce mandatory luggage storage from November. It will then be forbidden to move around the city center with your suitcases.

“They will deposit their suitcases in the lockers and we will bring them, in return for payment, to the address where they are staying. This is only the beginning, the ultimate goal is to create a logistics center within the airport, after which all the luggage will be directly delivered to the places of residence, “detailed the mayor of Dubrovnik, with the Croatian daily Jutarnji List.

A program to protect the city and its inhabitants

The Croatian city is not at its first measure to fight against the inconvenience of tourists. As part of the “Respect the city” program, Dubrovnik has already put in place several prohibitions such as walking animals without a leash, leaving waste in the middle of the street, riding a motorcycle or scooter, climbing monuments or even walking in the city center shirtless.
